Courtney Mullen – Managing Partner

Courtney Mullen – Managing Partner

Courtney Mullen has worked predominantly in family law since discovering her passion for helping people work through complex problems in difficult times some 15 years ago. She has worked in the community legal sector as well as in private specialist family law firms, founding Fulcrum Family Law after being a Partner at other leading Canberra family law firms.

Courtney’s degree in Economics from the Australian National University and her experience in business see her drawn to complex financial matters. Courtney is also experienced in parenting matters involving significant risk factors and intractable disputes, and is a trained Independent Children’s Lawyer.

Courtney approaches her work with empathy and an enthusiasm to understand her clients' objectives and goals. With extensive experience across all process options—from Collaborative Law to Court proceedings—she creates a bespoke plan to achieve optimal results for each client.

Balancing commercial acumen with compassion, Courtney prioritises her client’s best outcomes at every stage.

Victoria Blakeley – Special Counsel

Victoria Blakeley – Special Counsel

Victoria initially specialised in family law and later moved into the public sector where she focused on employment law, bringing diverse experience to her client-focused practice.

She now makes a return to private family law practice after three years of lecturing family law at a local University, sharing her expertise with the next generation of lawyers.

She combines this academic insight with practical advocacy to support clients through parenting, property and other family law matters.

Victoria is passionate about helping clients find the best possible solutions to their legal challenges. Trained in Collaborative Law, she advocates strongly for alternative dispute resolution processes wherever possible to achieve efficient, durable outcomes.

Natasha Priestly – Special Counsel

Natasha Priestly – Special Counsel

Tash has practised primarily in family law since her admission over 10 years ago. She worked with a large specialist family law firm before relocating to work for a regional community legal centre and then taking on a senior leader role in the community legal sector, heading up the Family Law practice of a large team. Tash added her insight and practical experience of the family law jurisdiction while co-lecturing the family law unit for a local university in 2025.

Tash is returning to private family law practice, motivated by child focused and trauma informed work and has undertaken numerous appointments as an Independent Children's Lawyer. She is passionate about helping clients to navigate complex legal systems and legal matters, especially where children are involved.

Tash focuses on identifying the best pathway to resolution for her clients with experience advocating in court and with out of court options including mediation, family dispute resolution and Collaborative Law.

Isobel Spencer – Associate

Isobel Spencer – Associate

Isobel practises exclusively in family law and brings a calm, thoughtful presence to her work with clients. She has worked in both boutique and large specialist family law firms throughout her legal studies and following her admission, giving her insight into a wide range of family law issues and approaches.

Before commencing her legal career, Isobel worked as a support worker in the community sector, supporting people and families navigating complex and often vulnerable circumstances. That experience means she knows better than most that family law is about people first, and that achieving the best outcomes requires genuine empathy, clear communication and steady, practical support.

Isobel is committed to helping clients understand their options, feel heard in the process, and move towards durable, child-focused and workable solutions. She values collaborative, resolution-focused practice wherever possible, while recognising that some matters require firm advocacy and careful preparation for court.

Lauren is a dedicated family law solicitor whose passion for family law stems from her deep affinity for children and commitment to supporting families through challenging transitions.

Since 2021, Lauren has gained extensive experience in children's services, equipping her to navigate complex parenting issues with empathy, effective communication and a client-centred approach. Her meticulous attention to detail and proactive style ensure thorough, accurate support for both clients and colleagues in delivering optimal outcomes.

Lauren's unique perspective from working with children enhances her handling of family law matters with care and precision. She combines academic knowledge with practical expertise to advocate for families, particularly in parenting disputes, and is excited to continue building her practice.

Carly brings over two decades of specialised expertise in Family Law, making her an indispensable force behind the scenes. Alexandra Johnson – Paralegal

Alexandra Johnson – Paralegal

Alexandra is a paralegal with years of experience supporting complex corporate matters, bringing a calm, detail-oriented and highly organised approach to her work. Her corporate background has given her a strong foundation in legal research, document management and procedural precision, which she now applies to the demands of family law practice.

In 2025, Alexandra was awarded the Rae Frances Thesis Prize for her Honours thesis in History, reflecting the exceptional quality of her academic research and analytical skills. She brings this same intellectual discipline to her role, where careful preparation and clear information flow are essential to progressing family law matters efficiently.

Alexandra has a particular interest in how legal systems shape people's lives at moments of vulnerability and transition, as often experienced in family law. She believes compassionate, well-organised legal support can make a tangible difference for clients and is committed to helping create a practice environment defined by professionalism, empathy and meticulous preparation.

Belinda Isle – Reception/Office Administrator

Belinda Isle – Reception/Office Administrator

Belinda is the firm's Receptionist and Office Administrator, bringing extensive experience in client services, reception and office administration across professional services, property, finance and government environments.

Front of office is Belinda's forte. With many years of experience in reception and customer service, she genuinely enjoys interacting with people and takes pride in creating a welcoming and supportive experience for every client. She is passionate, patient and approachable, with a natural ability to empathise with people during difficult situations. Belinda is committed to helping wherever she can, ensuring every person who contacts the firm feels heard, respected and supported.

As the first point of contact for many clients, Belinda brings a calm, professional and reassuring presence to the firm. She has a strong background in managing telephone and email enquiries, coordinating appointments, supporting office systems and ensuring the day-to-day running of a busy workplace is smooth and efficient.

Belinda is highly organised, discreet and client-focused. Her experience in high-pressure service environments has developed her ability to communicate clearly, build rapport quickly and assist people with professionalism and empathy. She understands the importance of careful administration, confidentiality and attention to detail, particularly when clients are navigating stressful or sensitive circumstances.

Belinda supports the team through file administration, client communication, office coordination and practical day-to-day assistance, helping to ensure clients feel supported from their very first interaction with the firm.
